Mama's little man

Every woman needs a good man in her life.  One that adores her no matter what.  Brittany has one of those.  Only thing is he's bald and can't hold his bottle.  She adores him just the same.  I loved to watch her talking to him and trying to get him to smile.  He was more interested in what that big black thing was that I kept putting up to my face.  I have know this young mama for a very long time.  I coached her in cheerleading when she was about 7 maybe.  And now she's all grown up with a little man all her own.   I was excited when she asked me to capture some images of her special guy.  This one is my favorite.  That's the fun part of having your own blog...you get to pick your favorites to put on.  Enjoy!

Little Man C

You know how the song goes...What the world needs now, is love sweet love.  Well I would have to say that it needs more little red headed babies.   This sweet little man is perfect.  He was such a good boy.  He only got a bit annoyed when we were trying to interrupt is nap.  I can't say that I blame him though.  Just when we would get him to sleep then we started in with the rearranging of his arms and legs.  Who would like that anyway??  We still got some super sweet shots of him.  There are even some with this thing called a "terrible towel"  for all you football fans.  I had no idea what that thing was.  I always tell people that I have never intentionally watched a football game in my life.. sorry just not my thing.  Love this little guy.  Enjoy!

Well Done

As you can tell by my blog,  I photograph a lot of children.  When I first met this family my reaction was that the mom looked like she was one of the kids.  ( Must be nice-lucky girl.)  But, mom she is and I have to say that she gets my vote for the most well behaved children.  Most of my shoots last at least an hour and usually nearly two.  I want to give clients plenty to choose from.  I feel as if they have spent the time to work a session into their schedule and outfit everyone so I want to make the best of it.  Children are just what they are... children and sometimes I lose them about 45 minutes in.  The whole idea has been lost to them.  So, I have to pull out my resources of mothering from my past 25 years of experience and try to get them of hang on for the rest of the session time.  From start to finish these children were unbelievable.  They listened to everything  I ask of them and never batted an eye.  Never once did they complain about the bugs or it being hot or being tired.  They just smiled when I asked -moved this way or that- sat up a little straighter- or put their chin up a little.  But, complaining was not on the list.  She is one lucky mom in so many ways.  Enjoy!

Ole Man Brant

Today, I did an engagement session for Amber and Scott who are getting married next June.  We finished up our session back at Scott's parents house which happens to be on the banks of Herring Creek.  Beautiful! by the way.  When we arrived we were welcomed this ole guy barking to sound the alarm that someone was there.  Scott let him out of his kennel and told me the story about how he and his father and brother loved to hunt and how Brant would go with them.  This past year his health began to decline.  The doctor said that he had  cancer and that his days were numbered.  I decided to take a few shoots of him while I was there since he is such a handsome guy.  Here is my favorite.  He may be sick but, I don't think he knows it.  We watched him fetch his toy from the water and bring us up dead crabs from the creek.  Enjoy!

Mr. and Mrs. Thad Russell

Yesterday afternoon, while the sun peaked a bit from behind the clouds and a cool breeze blew across the river,  Kelly and Thad took their vows.  This was the first time I had ever photographed a wedding at this location.  The couple was married on the banks of the river were the Suicide Bridge Restaurant is located and then took a gorgeous three hour cruise along the river for dinner and dancing with their guests.  The guest list had to stay small because the river boat can only hold so many.  I am sure this was a difficult thing to do since this couple is so adorable and absolutely loved by anyone who meets them.  Kelly is the sweet quite one and Thad is the ...Let's have fun one.  And the adore each other.  These are only a couple quick ones. I'm off  to another shoot. Enjoy !

Perry Family

Wow this was one busy family.  With baby #3 well on its way and two pre-schoolers at home there isn't much time left over.  Dad has to travel a lot for work so mom gets to handle the little ones while he's busy working.  You can just tell that they are the kind of couple for having lots of children.  Not much seems to get them going.  Dad is a big help keeping things in line and mom seems like she can handle just about anything.  Mom has been wanting maternity photos with every pregnancy but, it never seemed to work out for one reason or another but, she was determined to make it work this time.  It was a great day for June and there was a breeze blowing. We took the family to a place where the kids could run free while I worked some with mom and dad by themselves.  We had a big time.  Here are some of my favorites.  Oh yeah if the little guy looks like a pistol....that's because he is....locked and loaded and all boy.  Too cute!   Enjoy!

Cutie Pie

Here is just a quick shot of the sweetie pie I had a hold of this afternoon.  He was such a good boy.  I did his photos back around Christmas time when he was such a wee guy.  Now he is big boy and very busy.   I am off to spend a little time with my hubby before he takes my camera away from me.  I have been spending a lot of time with it lately and he has been good about that but, I don't want to press my luck.  Enjoy!

My little sunshine

Photographing other families children sometimes makes me want to photograph my own again.  It's not like I don't have tons of images of my girls. (Wrenn the most).  But they change so much when they are young.  I can honestly say that I have never regretted any of the images I have of the girls.  I sometimes look back at my earlier work and say to myself ....what was I thinking?  I think that is all just part of the learning process and finding your own style.  After doing a family session this morning and visiting Goose on the Roof  (the antique shop just between Hebron and Mardela Springs on Route 50) were we purchased this $8 vintage suitcase I wanted to see what I could do with it.  Wrenn had ideas all her own so I let her go with it and I think she came up with some neat ones.  If you look closely you will see that she is already off to her summer look.  She has scratches on her legs and really really dirty feet.  That's just what summer is all about.  I can remember as a girl, about her age, growing up on the families farm on Athol road in Hebron that I would run barefoot all summer and have all types of scratches and bruises.  I guess the apple doesn't fall far.  Enjoy!

Baker and Montgomery

I have learned as a mother and a photographer that when it comes to little ones ...you have to pick your battles and know that you will most often lose some of them.  Look at these adorable little ones.  Children have an agenda all their own and it's much easier to let them go and photograph them doing what makes them happy instead of trying of get them to do what we think they should (it doesn't usually work).  These cousins were no exception to the little ones rule.  We took their families to big open place that the children had never visited before and then we wanted them to sit still and smile cute.  They did smile cute but, under their own terms.  I think everyone had a good time.  I know I sure did.  Here are just a few of my favorites.  Enjoy!

Amanda and Will

It wanted to rain something awful yesterday and so we were all a bit nervous.  This wedding would have been amazing no matter were it took place (inside or out) but, mother nature was good to us and let us carry on before the rains came.  Amanda and Will are a handsome couple and their day was made even more special because they were surrounded by tons of family and friends who obviously adore them.  I have never done a wedding before were the hole crowd goes wild and cheers when the couple takes the floor for their first dance as husband and wife.  It made me a little teary eyed to think that everyone there was truly excited to be a part of their day.  Needless to say we had lots of fun.   Here are just a few quick looks for the couple and their families before they leave for their honeymoon.  Enjoy!

Tianna

Tianna is not just another pretty face...She's very bright as well.  Graduating at the top of her class says a lot more than just her pretty smile.  We had such a great time chatting while we were doing this shoot.  It was so hot that day but, she was a great subject and did all of the crazy things I asked.  I drug her all over downtown Seaford in the heat but, she never complained.  Thanks for making it so much fun for me.  Enjoy!

Kelly and Thad

Kelly and Thad are getting married in just a few weeks.  And I get to do the honors.  I will date myself my saying this but,  I can remember when Thad was born.  And I'm not talking that I was like 10 either.  I was nearly grown.  It almost hurts my feelings.  Anyway,  we got together this past weekend to get in a few shots before the big day.  Here are few of my favs.  Miranda came along to make sure these two behaved.  I think Thad could get into a little trouble given half a chance and Kelly is so laid back she would probably let him.  Can't wait until their big day.  Enjoy!

Birds

I don't normally take my camera equipment to work with me.  I paid a lot of money and waited a lot of years to get it so I am very careful with it.  Except for lens caps....I lose those things all the time.  I get so into what I'm doing when I'm shooting that I forget where I put them.  That's a whole different story.  I just happened to be doing a quick shoot for someone on this day and so I had my camera in my truck with me.  As I was going down the road I could see something flapping around up a bit on the side of the road.  When I got closer, I realized it was two birds.  They were fighting with a snake.  Apparently, Mr. Snack wanted to eat the baby birds and mom and dad bird were having no parts of that so the began to peck at him with a vengeance.  I watched them for about five minutes and they were not letting up.  Poor Mr. Snake couldn't get away fast enough.  I have to say that is one of the only times that I have found myself sorry for the snake.
