Wrenn-Warm Winter Day-De Child Photographer

It was another warm day for this time of year and I have been scouting out some new locations to shoot. Since Wrenn was home from school I made her be my subject.  I can tell she is not as into it as she was when she was younger.  She would much rather be on her nook reading or jumping on the trampoline.  She came with me anyway and we had fun for about 40 minutes.  I let Hannah pick out her favorites for me to edit.  I have learned a few new editing tricks too.  Also took an online class for photographing new borns.  Can't wait to try more of that out as well.  If you are expecting or have just had a new little one give me a call.  I am giving a sweet discount until the end of February on my newborn sessions so that I can practice all my new tricks.  Give me a call if you are interested  410.726.6467.  Enjoy!

Black Water National Wildlife Refuge-Outdoor Photography

With today being a holiday,  I was off from work and my youngest was off from school.  My oldest daughter is a teacher so she was off from work as well.  My second daughter,  who is the mother of my adorable new grand baby works in the evenings so it was a girl day today.  I really was suppose to be at home working but,  I had promised the youngest that we would do something fun this weekend.  She loves to be outdoors and loves going new places so I asked her what she wanted to do and she said "Lets go to the Black Water Refuge."  HUHHH???  What 10 year old (girl)  wants to do that on a day off from school?  My father used to take me there when I was a girl.  Our family farm was on the water and we always had Canada geese in the creek behind the house this time of year.  My dad used to call to them all the time.  I am sure they were thinking listen to that crazy human thinking he can talk to us.  I miss those times especially since my father has passed away.   Ok enough memory lane there.  My older girls had asked me to go to lunch (now that was more up my alley)  but,  since I had promised Wrenn to go the refuge,  I couldn't back out.  So we did both!!  Yay everyone was happy.  The older girls got  a good laugh at me being all excited every time I saw something fly by and throw my camera up to my face and start shooting away.  After about 20 shots,  Erika would say I think you've got it mom.  I was making exposure adjustments thank you very much.  I was mostly shooting up at the sky which  was a bit sunny today so it was difficult.  This guy was sitting there just looking down on us.  I don't think he looks very happy that we were bugging him but,  he didn't bother to fly away.  I was tough to get my focus since there were lots of tiny branches between me and his lofty perch.  This one is pretty good though I think.   I almost forgot the lunch part....we ate at Jimmie's and Sooks in downtown Cambridge.  If you have a Sunday afternoon to do what you will  I highly recommend making the trip.  The food was amazing and we had a blast just sitting a talking.    Enjoy!

Baby Ella-Newborn Photographer

Last year was a wonderful year for my business.  I got to meet tons of really great people and I have learned  so much.  The start of this year is proving to be just as good.  Today,  I meet this little baby girl and her mama and daddy.  We were going to do her session last week but,  I had a nasty cold and while I was fairly certain she wouldn't get it and I figured that as new parents they wouldn't want me sneezing while I photographed their sweet little one.  So,  we put it off until this week.  After a couple little breaks for some happy juice she was down for the count  ( and so was daddy).  Her mommy was such a big help.  You can always use extra hands.  Here are my two favorites.  Love that smile.  She has dimples all over her pretty little face.  Enjoy!

The B Man

There a show (that I have never seen)  about being smarter that a fifth grader.  I hear it's a very funny show.  I think it would be a hoot to video photographers while they try to chase done 2 year olds to grab a shot.  They can call it Are you faster than a two year old?   I can only image what I must have looked like running like a mad person trying to catch this little guy.  Now,  I am old enough to be a grandmother but,  I must say a can still move fairly well.  I had my work out last Sunday when Brant came to get his pictures done.  Not only was it  chilly and windy out but,  he can move.   And .....he loves to be outside. Cold or not.  Just my luck.  I kept thinking he would soon get cold and we could go back into the studio and thaw out.   He loved it and was super sad when we adults had had enough.  Here he is in all his frozen glory.  Enjoy!

Something New!!

Photography is always a work in progress.  It seems there is always something new I want to learn that will either make me a better photographer or make my images better.  I have been wanting to learn how to use different story boards to make my blog more interesting to look at.   Since I am mostly self taught  ( I think a lot of photographer are)  I spend lots of time trying out new things or at least they are to me.  Here is my baby granddaughter with a little something extra added.  I think she is beautiful already but,  I just learned something new so who better to try it on.  Now I can wait to try it on the little one I photographed about two hours ago.  Stay tuned Kelly and John...yours is next.  Enjoy!

Wrenn on New Years Day 2012

What a gift today was.  I suppose that if it was the middle of May we would think nothing of it but,  it wasn't ...it was the first day of 2012.   I had a great aunt,  Ginny was her name,  and she passed away this past year.  Now Aunt Ginny lived back in the sticks (literally) and we would go to visit every now and again.  I know that sounds harsh not going to visit more often but,  you didn't have to go visit her because she would come and visit you.  She would stay for days sometimes weeks at a time with various family members,  very rarely staying at home.  Her husband worked driving a truck and since they never had children and he was not home often there really wasn't much to keep her at home,  so off she would go to "visit".  Now my mom was one of the family that she visited most often.  They would sit and drink coffee and chat at our kitchen table when I was a girl.  I loved it when she came because she made the best Maryland biscuits.   They were so yummy with tons of butter all melty on them.  I could eat my weight in them ( which as a girl wasn't much).  I asked her once when I was older to teach me how to make them.  That,  I would have to say,  is an art.  She did,  however,  give me the recipe that I still have.   Which includes the amount of shortening you will need measured off in the palm of her hand.  She would take one hand and place it on her other hand almost all the way to her thumb and say and then you add this much shortening.   We never could get her to measure it out in cups.   Enough about that....since I had never really been to Aunt Ginny's much as an adult and certainly wasn't allowed to run loose in her woods as a child,  today was the first time I had the opportunity to go down there and really look around.  It's amazing!!  The woods are so clean...I mean there are no briers growing anywhere.  You can walk right through the woods and it's so far off the road that you can't hear a thing except to the scream of a hawk that was flying over.  So very peaceful.  I can't imagine why she would ever want to leave it.  Wrenn had a blast climbing on fallen trees and tracking through the woods.  There are little cuts in the creek that run behind it on all sides.  Wrenn was tempted to try to cross the streams in some places but, her father warned her that she wouldn't be allowed in the truck with marsh mud all over her.  She wants to go back in the Spring and try that out.  So here's to you Aunt Ginny!  Gone but,  never forgotten.  We miss and love you very much! Here are a couple shots that I took of Wrenn today in Aunt Ginny's woods.  Enjoy!

Taylor Sisters-Delaware Child Photographer

The holidays can be such a busy time for moms that it seems almost impossible to get it all done before they get here.  Trust me...I know this as well as anyone.  There's shopping, wrapping, baking, visiting, card making and mailing, decorating....the list goes on.   Sometimes getting the Christmas pictures done of the children gets put on hold until mom has just a minute to think and get things organized for that task.  These two sisters came to me just after the holiday to do their Christmas shoot.  I think it's perfectly fine to come any time close the Christmas for pictures.  I don't like the fact that we hear Christmas carols just after halloween and then the day after Christmas the STOP!!   I am not ready to give it up yet.  To me it should go on for at least a week.  So here are these sweet little things in their holiday dresses.  Love the colors.  Enjoy!
